C is for Cookie!

Here is a closer look at what I am working on for Dylan's Cookie Monster birthday party.

The soon to be Birthday Boy and his CM!

Labels for food and the Cookie bar and Cupcake picks, all handmade from card stock

Birthday Boy Banner (not quite complete)

I bought CM blue paper lanterns that I glued googlie eyes to and a mouth to make dangling CM for the party tent. Below is what they look like completed.

I found these cute picture frames a Target in the Dollar bin and glued some ribbon around them. I filled the frames with pictures of Dylan throughout his first year on one side and on the other a decorative CM sticker.

This sign I made to be placed near the favors our guests will be taking home.

I purchased two dozen CM books from the dollar bin at Target, that I will use as party favors for our guests as well as decor.

I came across these adorable sippy cups at a local store and cleaned out their stock. I will give them as party favors to our little party goers.

I made these paper pom poms from a Martha Stewart tutorial I found online. I will be hanging these in the party tent as well as placing some as decor on the party tables.

I can't wait to share more great ideas! Check back soon for more inspiration.

July Wedding Shocker!

As most of you know, I took a bit of a break from the planning business after giving birth to my son last August and had canceled my website so that I could concentrate on my family.

I have since began planning again and decided to start this blog, instead of a formal website, to be able to share more of my knowledge and expertise.

I was very excited to share pictures that I finally received of a Wedding that I coordinated last July, while 8 months pregnant, thanks to the help of my SIL; that is until I realized that my client started her own event planning company and plagiarized word per word from my pre existing website and created her own!

I should have known something was up when she ignored my requests for a review of my services for my website. "Cassidy Event Creations" must have liked what they saw. Really, who does that? I am rightfully upset, but what can I do about it now?

I am glad to know she is doing well for herself and is still happily married. Apparently I did my part as they had a fabulous wedding; here are the pictures to prove it.

New Business Card

I just ordered new business cards and am excited and wanted to share...

Please share my info with any interested party. Thanks!

just wanted to share

As some of u may already know, I am planning my son's first birthday party and the theme I'm going with is Cookie Monster! Since the first of the year I have been collecting everything and anything Cookie Monster I have come across.

I wasn't aware just how difficult it is to find Cookie Monster solo without the company of one or more of the other Sesame characters. But every now and again when I would come across something that was solely Cookie Monster I would purchase as many as I could and stash it away in my garage, where I have accumulated a large pile of birthday decor for the upcoming party.

Over the last few weeks I have begun working on some of the projects I will be using for decor and lately Cookie Monster has taken over my kitchen table. Here is a picture of what it currently looks like.

I am sticking with the blue color theme and have incorporated blues of all shades. I have made all sorts of labels and signs and even a banner out of different shades of blue card stock. I will take some pictures of the finished product and post them to share.

Place cards

This past month has been busy to say the least. I have attended two Weddings, a Baby Shower, Graduation party and have yet another Baby Shower to attend this coming weekend! So many parties, so many great elements of design!

This past weekend I attended a beautiful Wedding where the Bride and groom did most of the decor themselves. She made these adorable place cards out of card stock and added lace, pearls and buttons to make them look very ornate.

Earlier in the month my baby sister got married and we came up with the idea of using fruit for her place cards. Her color scheme was lime green and yellow and everything was eco friendly "green". The place cards were made from minature limes cut in half for the base and recycleable card stock printed with the guests' name and table number glued to a stick inserted in the lime. They were very unique and complemented her theme beautifully.

I began thinking back to all the different place cards I have seen and used over the years at the different events I have attended.

I once attended a wedding where the place cards were wrapped Tobolerone chocolate bars printed with the guests' name and table on it along with the couples' theme, "All you need is Love". A unique and delicious alternative to the ordinary.

For my own Wedding I did not want to do the traditional place cards so instead I used minature martini glasses I found at Ikea (gotta love Ikea) and filled them with pink pillow mints ( our color scheme was Pink n Black). On the base of the glasses I used heart shapped "glass markers" made from card stock that I purchased online and printed each guests' name and table name on them. It complimented our Vegas wedding perfectly.

I have seen everything from seashells to candy used as a place card. You name it, it's probably been used. I always love coming across a new idea for one and will be on the look out for some to use at future events.

Here are a few pics of place cards I have used...
